At 28 weeks your baby is approximately 14.8 inches from head to toe, and weighs approximately 2 1/4 pounds(about the size of a large eggplant).

Welcome to the third trimester! Baby will keep getting bigger—and smarter—after week 28 of pregnancy, and then baby will just need a few more finishing touches before he or she is ready to meet you. Baby can blink its eyes, which now sport lashes. With the eyesight developing, it may now be able to see the light that filters through the womb. Baby is also developing billions of neurons in its brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world. Your baby begins to experience REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, which means it’s very likely that it is dreaming! Fetuses often stick out their tongues at this age. No one is sure exactly why, but it’s possible your baby is tasting your amniotic fluid. Brain wave patterns show that babies at this stage of development can respond to all sorts of sounds. Your baby is settling into the proper position for birth, with his head facing downward.

Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. This information is to give you a general idea of your baby's size.
